When the GI’s microbiome is disrupted, issues such as bloating, cramping, constipation, diarrhea, and acid reflux can appear. Ixcela has helped thousands of people with persistent GI struggles restore proper gut function and, in turn, find significant relief.
No two plans are the same! In addition to customizing plans based on test results, our dietitians often make tweaks for our clients dealing with GI Issues such as:
Hayden, a pediatric medical resident in his 30s, struggled with daily stomach issues for years. His GI discomfort was amplified when he started training for Ironman 70.3 events, and he decided it was time to try something different.
Mikayla, a full-time graduate student and marathon runner, had been diagnosed with colitis a few years before finding Ixcela. She turned to Ixcela for help alleviating bloating, cramping, and post-run stomachaches.
Collegiate track-and-field athlete Quincy, struggled with alternating constipation and diarrhea, gas, bloating, and nausea. Her GI distress affected her athletic performance and caused her to miss multiple races each month.
A metabolite is the by-product of a breakdown process in the body (what’s created after the body metabolizes something). Metabolites can come from the breakdown of consumed food, ingestion of medicines, or tissue breakdown. These metabolites then travel to different areas of the body and can serve various functions including growth, reproduction, and health maintenance.
Ixcela measures gut-health metabolites to provide clues on what may be disrupting your body’s balance, causing GI symptoms, and what specifically to do about it. For example, when indole-3-propionic acid is below optimal levels (which can be one of the key indicators of a leaky gut), we know we need to focus on reducing processed foods, caffeine, and gluten. Or if serotonin is below optimal (often connected to constipation), we know we need to focus on the consumption of Omega 3s, getting at least 30 minutes of sunshine a day, mindfulness, and adequate sleep.
During your one-to-one virtual session with your Ixcela registered dietitian, you’ll be guided on exactly what to do based on your testing results and what feels most realistic for you right now.
While Ixcela cannot cure or treat colitis, Crohn's disease, IBS, or IBD, we have a track record of alleviating symptoms of bloating, cramping, constipation, diarrhea, and nausea for most clients who struggle with GI issues. While we may not be able to alleviate all symptoms, most clients see a substantial difference in their symptoms after working with one of our registered dietitians for 90 days.
Ixcela is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease.
